At rhom, our story doesn’t begin with a business plan or a gap in the market. It begins with a foster dog. Initially, we just wanted her to be seen, to stand out so she could find her forever home. Then we realised something as important—all dogs have their moments. Whether they are looking for a family or just looking for space, they often try to say “no” in the only way they know how.

Like many, we’ve loved dogs who were labelled “reactive,” “anxious,” or “difficult”. We’ve felt that familiar tension through the lead—the one that speaks of fear, overwhelm, or simply a need for space. In those moments, we realised a fundamental truth—dogs have preferences too.
They can’t say, “I’d like some distance, please,” or “I’m not comfortable right now.” Instead, they bark, lunge, or freeze. And too often, the world misunderstands. We started rhom because we believe every dog deserves to communicate their needs respectfully and effectively. We wanted to help them speak for themselves.

More Than Just Dog Walking Accessories: A Language of Respect
rhom was born in London from a simple, powerful idea: what if we could create a subtle, clear, and stylish way for dogs to say, “I need space”? Our communication patches are designed to do just that—to act as gentle, proactive signals to the world. A visual cue that says, “My dog is amazing, but right now, we’re practising our space.” It’s not a label, it’s a gentle way to speak your dog's mind. It’s about advocating for our pets’ emotional well-being and fostering understanding in shared spaces.
We believe respecting a dog’s need for distance isn’t overprotecting; it’s compassion. It builds trust and creates happier, more confident dogs (and humans!).
